Message from Jane Lawrence about Student Death
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
It is with great sadness that I announce the death of UC Merced sophomore Adam Wood, 19, of Northern California. Adam, a biological science major, was very involved in campus activities including Sigma Chi fraternity and an active member of our campus community.
Counseling is available for students through the Counseling & Psychological Services Office. You are encouraged to take advantage of this service — now or after Spring Break — to discuss your feelings. You may contact the office by calling 209-228-4266 or e-mailing counseling@ucmerced.edu.
Please watch for an announcement from ASUCM President Lamar Williams with details about a moment of silence being planned for Adam.
This is a very sad time for our campus and for many students who knew Adam. He will be deeply missed by the entire UC Merced community.
